My India, My Pride

Thanks all of you for answering the questions I put forward in the last post. Now here are my answers to my own questions:
Independence to me is the ability to grow as an individual and be responsible for my own life
The most important freedom, is free speech and the right to endeavor to make a better life for myself without reservations of any kind binding me.
For me my country is my greatest pride and I blindly love it. And my greatest moment of pride was when India's first man in space Rakesh Sharma answered while orbiting the earth, " Saare jahan se acha" to the question by then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, "mera bharat kaisa lag raha hai?"
And the moment in my own life which best symbolises freedom is when I decided to write this blog and air my views on my own forum without fear.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO ONE AND ALL!!!

Though I love India I still feel that it's certainly not "Saare jahaan se achcha"... Anyway, happy independence day!

Hey Mampi,

lets say i fudged the results since i answered the questions I had set...actually I think everyone of us who has the jasba of patiroitism is beautiful

hey invincible and MIP...happy independence day to you too!!!

Animesh...it may not be the best if you study it point by point but its mine and thats what makes me feel that way. Every mother's face is the most loved by the child who calls her ma no matter where she may stand in the Miss world contest dont u think?

hey Keshi..thanks for your wishes!!!

beautiful response, pinku! i agree with you to a point. of course the mother is the epitome of beauty for a child...she is the world for him...i luv India too...but somehow i am not one of those who are blinded to the reality of our country. it's not the greatest for sure. it sure does have a golden past but that doesn't say much about its present state. it has all the ingredients to be great in every sense...i believe it's we citizens who have let her down...India will be great only when we Indians decide to bring about a change in ourselves...

hey animesh...i agree about the shortcomings but love shouldnt be conditional and if there is love then the will to better those shortcomings shouldnt be difficult to find either. Wont you agree?
Yes its we who have let her down and yes its us who have to stand up and better her lot.

Nice reading your answers...hope you had a wonderful Independence Day & Raksha Bandhan!

I guess it would have been more apt if its "freedom to react" than "freedom to speak". I know you meant the same.
Pinku said…
hey aviana, thank you so much...may we all achieve our personal freedoms.

Hey flying stars...thanks had a wonderful time. Hope you guys did too.

hi Panchajanya,

welcome to my enchanted world.

To 'react' is a slightly agressive term which has at its base an action taken by another and at times almost a kneejerk action in turn on our part while 'speech' is more positive and does not have such implications.

I will stay with speech.

pinku,

Well said. Speech over action. Dialogue over dhishum-dhishum.

Anyway, I came here to comment because your reminiscing over the Indira Gandhi-Rakesh Sharma exchange almost brought tears to my eyes.

Notice how Indira Gandhi didn't say Hindostan, she said Bharat. Using Bharat should please the despicable, pro-retardation sangh parivar na?

Hey Iconoclast...welcome to my enchanted world...yeah Indira said mera bharat and made her place in my heart forever.

Her grit and passion enthrall me. She maybe mistaken but she was never one for non-action. I like that...endless debate over tea and biscuits need to go. Decisive action has to happen.
