Have a heart
As we see the images of Kashmiris asking for separation over and over again. It hits home that all this hullabaloo is actually because they find their homeland under threat. The threat is real or imagined can be a matter of debate however the fact remains that having your home turf under attack is not a easy feeling to live with.
So what am I trying to say?
Well just that the Kashmiris are not the only one clamouring to be heard through their many parades and leaders, some dumb creatures too are crying out and asking for our support.
The Olive Ridley Turtles are going to lose their breeding grounds soon thanks to a port that the Tata’s are planning at Dhamra, one of the last natural habitats of these endangered species.
I wrote a letter to Mr. Ratan Tata today through GreenPeace an organization which is fighting on behalf of the turtles and their right to live. Here is my letter:
Dear Mr.Tata,
It would be nice to know that apart from a lot of steel you also have a heart.
Money can’t be everything can it? Give the poor turtles a chance will you?
After all you wouldn't like someone taking over your home would you? As it is you and the Maharashtra police are being ruthless enough to these activists who speak on behalf of the dumb turtles.
Have a heart.
I am not denying we need the port, God knows it will mean many jobs and a better life for many of my fellow citizens but in the process dont kill the turtles please. Couldnt you relocate or something? You are so smart, you dreamt up the Nano...am sure you can do this too.
I have always respected and admired you as a man of principles its time you showed them.
Waiting eagerly for a Press Conference being addressed by you where you announce the relocation of the Port.
regards,
I alone can't make a difference but I am hoping you will add your voices to it, that is if you feel these creatures need to live, incase you feel the Port needs to be at the exact same area and nowhere else and the turtles be damned, that’s your opinion and you have every right to it.

Its a wonderful thing to do.
I am proud of you.
and yeah, i don't know if it's enough... but heyy, i hope it does help.
If that is the case why are they allowing land for Central Govt. PSU's in kashmir?
Yeah Rayshma am hoping our small voices joined together become the thunder that makes Mr. Tata rethink.
Dear Flying Stars...u are so right...already there are so many relegated to only history books...as responsible citizens we need to stop adding to those numbers.
Panchajanya...u miss the point, this is not about Kashmir its about the Turtles.
But since you have raised the question let me answer to the best of my ability...the two month lease idea has just been floated it wasn't the case earlier. Secondly let the Kerala government give away 100 acres of land to say the muslims or Biharis or Assamese and then see how the people of Kerala react.
Muslims have been helping Hindus do this pilgrimage for ages...why I ask you do we need to discontinue this beautiful symbol of secularism and give that land to the shrine board which would of course be exclusively hindus and create this rift?
In the process we take away the livelihood of all those poor muslim brethen as well as change the fragile demographics of Kashmir.
As for PSU's those give jobs without discrimanting on the basis of religion. See the difference?
Oppsss my apologies...
[the two month lease idea has just been floated it wasn't the case earlier. ]
Yes it was all the other times its completely inhospitable piece of land.
[Secondly let the Kerala government give away 100 acres of land to say the muslims or Biharis or Assamese and then see how the people of Kerala react.]
How do you think people who come to kerala for sabarimala season stay?
[give that land to the shrine board which would of course be exclusively hindus and create this rift?]
The land neither belongs to muslims nor to hindus it belongs to India. Hope we understand the difference. Hindus are not going to pakistan and asking a peice of land for 2 months to facilitate their pilgrimage. Just the same way Haj Houses have been constructed all over country.
[As for PSU's those give jobs without discrimanting on the basis of religion. See the difference]
So what happens if majority hindu starts working there?
As for the points you have raised, seek within yourself or the net and you will have ample answers.
Keshi.
swadha
animesh...you are so right...and its time we did something about it.. many take out time to actually go to those rallies and at times get manhandled for their efforts the least we could do is to raise awareness of such issues.
Hey ria, thanks for visiting and am so glad u too joined the movement
Yeah Keshi...we humans do these things and we alone have the power to stop them from happening too.
Hey Swadha...thanks for the support buddy. :)
One thing that does hurt is the paki flag waving. I sympathize with the Kashmiri cause & their sangh parivar induced sense of insecurity, but this paki flag waving is hurtful. Actually it could be their way of expressing their hurt & fear.
I don't know what to think...
Its not the time to go into such small things...its the time to give them hope and do some fast and good work...if the head of mother India is to be kept with India.
urs..hemu..
quick quick super quick
About the Kashmir issue I found this post on Nita's blog, by a Kashmiri blogger, he tells us his side of the story. You can feel his pain and frustration.

IHM ...thanks am sure all of us joining forces will achieve something...will check the site for sure...thanks for the link.
And believe me if for nothing else we need animals and plants around for our own selfish needs. The balance in nature needs to be maintained for our own survival.
Anyways Kashmir is getting all the attention worldwide, even if it gets a bit sidelined on my blog :)
We may think we are more important than other animals but nature doesn't. The more we disturb mother nature the more difficult we make life for our future generations.
Thank you for spreading awareness about the campaign to stop Tata’s port in Dhamra from destroying endangered Olive Ridleys. Could you please email me? We need your help again now. Will let you know whats happening, what we're planning to do, and how you can help.
Thanks,
