Jashne Sardi

the nip in the air,
the days growing short
the cuddles more urgent
the kisses more frequent

the fragrance of harshingar
the urges for a cup of coffee
the crawling into the other’s grooves
the slipping of a hand into the shirt

the open air dining in the chill
the hot kebabs and shawarmas
the happiness of being together
the return of memories pleasant

the appearance of the favourite razai
the early morning fog
the endless cups of steaming tea
the breathe which steams as it streams

Know what it means?

Winter is here!!!

Simply Beautiful!! Reminds me something too. The aroma that used to be there with Lehaf also called razai is still there in my memories. We used to store them in Tin trunks. My ammi used to experience the cold the most and was seen hiding in the razai most of the time and was indeed the warmest place in the house, and we all used to dive into her bed from all corners to steal the warmeth!!!
I also remember the streets where
people of all faith used to sit around the fire in the morning hours with all those gup shups.
and i do not want to forget that damn hari dhania ki chatni with garam garam moomphali!!!!!!!!!!!

this is a true blue indian poem . . . warm, unpretentious, joyful . . .

i miss the Delhi winters . . . not bathing for 31 days and then braving it one Sunday, together . . . the late mornings . . . the ride to the Tibetan camp every Sunday for momos . . .

we will head back to Delhi soon . . . because in my dreams I have headed back numerous times . . .
