A Glorious New Year to U & Me!!!

Hey!

It’s that time of the year again to spin new dreams, look resolutely at our bank balance (or the lack of it) and plan a golden (ok even a silver one will do) future.

Relax guys this feeling too shall pass like all those new years before this one did and we will be warmly ensconced in the inaction or minimum action that our lives were, are and always shall be.

Isn’t that what we actually most want to do? Live on in the sameness(dullness yes but then atleast one is spared the nasty surprises). It’s only at times like these New Year's or our birthdays and anniversaries when we are forced to think differently.

Yeah I agree there is a kind of thrill to it. The plan to shed old skin, try new things and tighten up our belts (in more ways than one) all of it is very exciting but you know what….our fast food nourished minds and bodies lose whatever energy is there in the planning and we quietly let go of the packet of new thoughts by the wayside like that garbage bag that guy forgot to collect again.

There is no shame in this, no need to feel guilty and look around, we all do this, 99% of the human race does this. Yes that 99% which is born, lives and dies without making a difference to anything, not even to their own existence.

Why should we bother our pretty coiffured heads over global warming, growing communalism, and molestation of women on crowded roads when we don’t even pay attention to the needs of our parents or children, our unhealthy lifestyle or the fact that our credit card bills are five times our salaries. Indeed why should we?

The government, society, environment and the going nowhere political situation of the country is to blame for it. Not we.

So guys lets all pull up those quilts, pick up the rum and coke and wish ourselves another Happy New Year!!!

Or shall we?

"happy" begins at home... and unfortunately, it ends there too! let's hope we can at least make a difference to someone, somewhere... isn't it so much happier when u give someone else a reason to smile?
here's hoping to a better 2008... individually, socially... and psychologically :)

Hi! Rayshma,

I agree with you that all of us can make a difference all we need is a bit of will.
